STULZ UltraWater® reverse osmosis water treatment system

In isothermal humidifying systems water is boiled in a steam cylinder and the chalk is retained in the cylinder. Once the cylinder is completely full of chalk, it has to be replaced. Adiabatic systems, on the other hand, produce a cold mist without vaporising water. This means that the chalk cannot be removed from the water that is fed to the system so it enters the room - the result is a film of chalk on all objects in the room. To avoid this, adiabatic systems must be supplied with demineralised water. This can be achieved in practice by positioning a reverse osmosis system upstream.

Method of operation

In a reverse osmosis system, an “osmotic” overpressure is generated in a water system, making it possible for all the minerals to be separated with the aid of a diaphragm.
To make sure the diaphragm has a long service life, in the STULZ UltraWater® reverse osmosis system three increasingly fine filter stages are positioned upstream of the diaphragm. Downstream from the diaphragm, an activated carbon filter binds odorous substances and carbon dioxide, and finally a UV lamp ensures complete hygiene. At the same time, an integrated controller continuously measures the water quality and autonomously triggers the flushing of the diaphragm to ensure smooth functioning.

Stage 1
5-μm sediment filter removes dust, rust and other particles (min. service life 6 months)

Stage 2
Granulate activated carbon filter removes chlorine, odours, organic matter, pesticides and chemicals (min. service life 6 months)

Stage 3
Carbon filter block removes chlorine, odours, organic matter, pesticides and chemicals, to protect the diaphragm, for example (min. service life 6 months)

Stage 4
TFC diaphragm removes elements such as lead, copper, barium, chromium, mercury, sodium, cadmium, fluoride, nitrides, nitrates and selenium (min. service life 2 years)

Stage 5
Carbon afterfilter removes any remaining residues and odours (min. service life 1 year)

Stage 6
UV lamp disinfects and kills off free viruses and bacteria in the water by means of UVC light (min. service life 1 year)
